When we asked the kids at Mama Mayila's Cradle to suggest things they’d like to do over their summer their top suggestion was a beach trip! Not just for fun, they were quick to point out but a beach trip with a purpose – a Big Beach Clean-up - to keep their beautiful Hamilton beach pristine.
Before they set to work the kids decided to give their environmetal group a name - the Secret Squirrel Hush Hush Squad! The kids took their World Environment Day lessons - from Unlce Alfred and the Society 4 Climate Change Communication - to heart and were quick to don their gloves and show the juniors what to do, even little Lady Faith helping out beating plastic pollution! And a timely lesson for Destiny, Scout, Noah and Kye that things found on the ground belong in a rubbish bag and not in the mouth!
And a beach trip wouldn't be a beach trip without an ice-cream and a well-received reward for all their hard work - thanks Uncle Williams!
