Enthusiastic young mums gathered at York Community Maternity Clinic to receive their baby bonus for ensuring their newborns are fully vaccinated. After introductions from Hope's national coordinator, Mr. William Tieh, and chief medical officer, Mr. Lansana Fofanah, 46 mums and two dads stepped up with their babes in arms or colourful lapa wraps to receive 100 Leones each to help support their children at this crucial stage of their early lives.
Building on Novembers' distribution of baby boxes filled with essentials for a safe birth, the next phase of our new project aims to increase clinic attendance and boost vaccination rates in the York chiefdom, thanks to funding from the Adpuda Global team.
Involving mothers in the project's design has already shown positive results, with a monthly meeting established where Hope will provide nutruitious seasonal food, while the mothers cook and learn about nutrition. The mothers believe it's a fantastic idea and have committed to sharing the information with their neighbors and friends.
