BABY BONUS BONANZA | EMPOWERING MUMS IN SIERRA LEONE


Fifty-six happy new mums gather together at York Community Maternity Clinic to receive a baby bonus for making sure their new babies receive all their first year vaccinations and all thanks to the Aspida team for supporting this project.

After intros from Hope's national coordinator, Mr William Tieh and chief medical officer, Mr Lansana Fofanah the women with babes in arms each collect 100 Leones cash money - vital support in these young babies lives

The atmosphere is filled with the delightful aromas of the cooking as the mums take part in a nutrition workshop befoer tucking into platefuls of nutritious cassava packed full of protein, vitamins a and c, calcium and iron all key to their newborns healthy development, sharing plates the traditional way. The mothers leave the clinic not only with financial support but also with a sense of community, empowerment and the knowledge that they are part of a larger movement aimed at improving the lives of women and children in Sierra Leone.
