WARM WELCOME FOR THE HARROWERS RETURN

With a traditional Temne song the Hope Sakuma team welcome back Momoh, Abdulai and their trusty Ford tractor to the farm trailering the harrowing plough and seeder. And with the first rains fallen already the timing couldn't be better!

But first the hasp attaching the harrower needs repair and luckily for us, former blacksmith, Pa Morlai’s on hand to help. As Abdulai and Lincoln make progress the team continue to clear a path digging up remaining roots - including a couple of huge rootballs from palms that they roll out of the way.

With the tractor harrowing from dawn ‘til dusk to make up for lost time it's soon time to broadcast the seed - bushels of yinkeh-yankeh, pa kiamp rice and nerica buttercup - before the tractor picks up a new attachment to cover the seed with a final harrow.

Please and share our sustainable farming journey empowering rural women with nature-based solutions to improve nutrition, livelihoods and climate change adaptation in Sierra Leone.
