SEED PLANTING DRY RUN

In advance of Hope Sakumas farmer field school, project cordinator Amabest enjoys a first dry run demonstrating to the Makelekos All-Stars how to rehydrate sterile coconut coir pellets and plant seed, use mini-greenhouses to increase germination rates - just like the kids did over the summer!

Seedlings will be transplanted in the new vegetable beds and mulched with azolla to reduce weeding time and retain soil moisture. And Hope Sakumas farmer field school will teach women farmers from 14 villages how to plant, nurse, transplant and harvest tomatoes, hot pepper, melon, cucumber and okra, boosting nutrition and livelihoods sustainably in Sanda Magbolontor.
