VIRTUE IS REWARDED!

You can see little Virtue here has some really great news to share! She's found a forever family right here in Sierra Leone. For the last 3 months Virtue's been living with her new mum and they've been getting on famously - Virtue's really settled in! We're amazingly proud of Tina who's love and commitment sees Virtue lifted up and given a chance to thrive.

Long-time readers will remember baby Virtue coming to us, a very sad story of a teenage Ebola survivor taken advantage of in those dark days.

In-country fostering and adoptions are one of the main ways we can help vulnerable children and fullfill the Ministry of Social Welfare, Gender Equality and Children's Affairs 's alternative care policy. But it's very difficult to find stable households able to foster a child and Sierra Leone adoption laws are uncodifed and outdated.

So we also focus on reunifying children with their biological families and supporting children, orphaned by Ebola and living with extended families - next month our new Kinship Fostering programme launches developing our feeding and education programmes in Moa Wharf and Ebola-devasted slum in central Freetown, providing regular checks by a resident coordinator.
