CHILD REUNIFICATION WORKSHOP


The Hope team were proud to attend a five-day training workshop on family reunification learning some startling facts about what Sierra Leone children face growing up with 12 million kids going to bed hungry, 3.4 million having lost their parents or care-givers, 3.3 million at risk of teenage pregnancy and 76,000 children on the streets for at least part of their lives.


The event opened by the Hon. Bindi Hindowa, deputy minister for gender and children's affairs and Uncle Williams and Aunty Zainab attend on behalf of the team keen to expand their understanding of this complex issue and enjoyed practical sessions and exercises for recognizing and dealing with key issues orphaned and street children face including trauma and attachment issues and emotional regulation.


More than 150 Participants from across Sierra Leone, the USA, Liberia and Nigeria gathered at the event organized by Child Reintegration Centre in partnership with Helping Children Worldwide and the Ministry of Social Welfare, Gender and Children's Affairs. After receiving certificates the event ends on a high note with the CRC choir leading everyone in song.
