We're especially proud to welcome the twenty-third village to Hope Sakuma - the beekeepers of Sanda Magbolontor - who better to leave us, as we leave 2018 and head into 2019, with such a sweet taste! A demonstration of traditional hive-weaving skills by these expert beekeepers, who've harvested honey for generations from our rainforest bees, sustainably and now without using traditional smoke that can kill these essential pollinators, nature's little helpers.
The forest is so dense in these parts that we hear these villages could produce honey sustainably all year-round! Now wouldn't that be a thing? How many vulnerable children could benefit from a spoonful of honey every morning to get them set for school? How many people abroad would like a taste of this beautiful sweet stuff steeped in history, hand-made and helping protect our ancient forest's rich bio-diversity. Volunteer Osman introduces Hope Sakuma Farm Coordinator Andrew who makes a plea on behalf of this Limba village.
