We're always so thankful to see the team from World Hope International and the crew at Mercy Corps visit Hope Foundation, at Hope Interim Care Centre, to help us care for our children living with disabilities. they bring us hope every time. These guys regular visits give our toddlers medical checks and they really help us to care well for our children living with disabilities, by showing our care-givers how to provide on-going physio for August, TJ, Sid and Bas. The kids from Mama Mayila's Cradle @ Hope ICC say thank you World Food Programme for your continuing support. We know you can't do it every month but when you do do it we are so thankful! This month the kids received 14 bags of rice the cooks and the kids really like this rice it swells and fluffs up well and it has a creamy taste! The kids also received 7 bags of nurticous soya bean and 4 litres of oil.
We timed June's trip to Moa Wharf to coincide with Eid-al-Fitr, the day which marks the end of Ramadan’s 29 days of fasting and prayers for the most disadvantaged in society and a day when zakat al-fitr is traditionally given - a donation to the poor of a quantity of food or its monetary equivalent. Very sadly Baby Liam passed away this morning at 11 am, after a tough couple of weeks and some difficult months. We grieve this brave little boy, with so much character, who suffered so much in his too brief a life. The Headman of Hamilton kindly gave his permission for us to bury Baby Alimamy and a representative from the Minsitry of Social Welfare, Gender and Children's Affairs visited. Baby Alimamy came to us from Madina, Kambia District, last year with his twin Alusine.
Our team from Hope ICC were proud to attend a 3 day training session on the national Alternative Care Policy launched in 2014, held in Freetown for Interim care Centres and orphanages carried out by Unicef. We'll incorporate the key elements in our Volunteer Staff Handbook and annual activity plan. xx
