SUNDAY AFTERNOON HIVE-WEAVING

Join Issa our expert weaver of hives as he fashions more traditional hives from piassava, made this way for hundreds of years and ready to place in Hope Sakuma's cashew trees and fruit orchards.

Later Issa carefully coats the traditional cylindical hives in cow dung and rice straw to weatherproof them before carring them to our orchards.

Our hives not only provide safe haven for our native bees, essential pollinators for our trees and underplanted crops but they give us hivefuls of delicious honey at the end of the season flavoured this year we hope with mango and banana.
