MARCHING FOR DEAF AWARENESS IN SIERRA LEONE

We're proud to join Noah and Katie every year celebrating and marching to raise awareness in Sierra Leone. Todays' parade - ably organized as always by esteemed Principal, Mrs Kamara-Cole - from Lumley to Wilberforce Barracks was to raise awareness for the deaf communities right to education, skills and social inclusion, key components of the sustainable development goals (SDGs).

The grand parade took place after the National School for the Deaf annual thanksgiving service held at the Jesus Evangelistic Encountering Ministries (JEES). This year Aunty Michaela, Aunty Melanie and Uncle Luke came along with Sid to give their support.

After the event every child received some toothpaste to improve oral hygiene and a malaria net - a great initiative to help prevent malaria in hard-to-reach and often marginalized communities.

Celebrating deaf awareness in Sierra Leone with the National School for the Deaf marching band's rousing rendition of Land That We Love, our National Anthem. A big thank you to Aunty Isata and Uncle Williams for giving up your Sunday to accompany the kids and celebrate with them!
