FERTILZER APPETIZER!

While we wait on our allocation of Government fertilizer our IVS teams urgently need fertilizer for top-dressing the nerica rice seedlings. But this is just an appetizer, the IVS will need another bigger dressing a month before harvest!

Here's Hassan and Sheku loading up the transport with 50 kg bushels of fertilizer from JICA at Port Loko for our 10 of our 15 inland valley swamp Nerica rice teams and arriving with Mr Mohammed Turay from Jica and Chairman Obakai to witness delivery to Hope Sakuma's store.

The next day Chair Ladies and Chairmen from 10 Hope Sakuma villages - Robat, Madina, Waliya, Kamalo, Mamatay, Komneh, RoBomp, Petifu, Roghenty, Maseng - come to Manasy to collect fertilizer to develop inland valley swamps and grow nerica rice and some cash money for feeding the teams. Mohammed from JICA and Sheku talk to the chairladies, chairmen and deputies explaining the importance of following the training and the calendar of activities precisely to get the best from the nerica.

Sheku takes Mr Mohammed from JICA on a tour of the inland valley swamps in various stages of development to assess training needs and kindly provides some on the spot training on transplanting seedlings.
