AID ALEX'S ASCENT!

Meet Alex, just 12 and joining his new family at Mama Mayila's Cradle. Alex is one of the children orphaned by Ebola in our kinship fostering programme who was literally kicked out on the streets with all his belongings this week. It caused quite a kerfuffle and Resident Coordinator Uncle Momoh called the police - the first time in more than a year - and Uncle Williams arranged an urgent meet at the Ministry. Thanks to the swift intervention of Uncle Momoh and Uncle Williams the situation was calmed and Alex was safe and sound at Mama Mayila's Cradle the same day.

And now we can see what a bright smile this little boy has! This terribly sad story is a really harsh reminder for this little boy and for us too, of life at the very margins of a society. But blame is not so easily cast. Things are never black and white.

Talking to Mama Mayila the uncle apologized to the boy for snapping and throwing his things out like that but he had reached the end of his tether and the uncle explained how extremely tough life is in the slum. Not just one day but every day. Not once in a while but always. Not occasional hardship but a daily struggle. He has his own children to care for, there are too many pressures to bear and most times, even with support, he can't make ends meet and he goes hungry so his own children can eat.

If you'd like to help support Alex please consider monthly sponsorship anything from $5 to $50!

We match your sponsorship with other kind sponsors to make sure this little boy has year round care and gets a great education to equip him for the future.
